Post-baccalaureate Degree Programs

All post-baccalaureate, graduate, or professional level programs at LSU require a minimum of 30 credit hours of graduate level courses [8]. Masters thesis programs generally require 24 credit hours of course work and six hours of thesis research credit, though some may require more.  Though there are no specific course work requirements for the Ph.D., “the program of work prescribed by a department ordinarily provides for a substantial amount of course work, equivalent to three years of full-time study beyond the requirements for the baccalaureate degree.  Some departments require considerably more course work” [9]. Table 4 lists the minimum number of semester hours required for each of the graduate degrees offered by LSU.
