Narrative
For each major within a degree program, Louisiana State University and A&M College (LSU) assigns responsibility for program coordination, curriculum development, and curriculum review to persons academically qualified in the field. Program coordinators are assigned within each department by the department chair or director to oversee the program coordination as well as curriculum development and review of specific undergraduate and/or graduate degree program(s).
Program coordinators typically hold the terminal degree and/or possess additional qualifications (e.g., professional experience, training, certification/licensure) in the same field as the degree(s) they oversee. Academic qualifications for program coordinators, listed by undergraduate and graduate degrees, are documented in the Credentials Roster: Program Coordinators [1].
Curriculum development and review are governed by Policy Statement 45: Courses and Curriculum [2]. Curriculum changes must be submitted to college-level curriculum committees, to the respective college dean for approval, to the university-level Faculty Senate Courses and Curriculum Committee for final review, and ultimately to the executive vice chancellor and provost for final approval. The curriculum development process is discussed in more detail in Comprehensive Standards 3.4.6 and 3.4.10 and Federal Requirement 4.2.
