My United States History class provided me with the opportunity to teach a lesson about an historical event. The instructions were to design a lesson plan geared toward the grade level that I want to teach. I created a lesson on the History of the American vote, prepared for a third or fourth grade class. I have included a PowerPoint presentation that I will use with my future students as well as activities and worksheets. My lesson is a themeatic style unit, including math, reading, writing and social studies. This lesson was a wonderful extention of the work I was doing in my Cultural Diversity in Educatin class because the history of the vote in America addresses many topics like racism and oppression. This lesson is a great way to incorporate cultural awareness and civic responsibility.
