ADVISING for ALTERNATIVE CERTIFICATION CANDIDATES
The information below is for candidates enrolled in an internship connected to an Alternative Certification program in the College of Education at Louisiana Tech University.
- Each quarter the names of candidates currently entolled in an internship are sent to the Office of the Registrar for Advising and Special Permission holds to be lifted. You will still need to register for the internship course using BOSS and pay your fees prior to the purge date(s) (http://www.latech.edu/registrar/payment-purge.shtml).
- If you need to register for a course other than an internship, please complete the Online Advising Form available in TaskStream. See the instructions below.
INSTRUCTIONS FOR ONLINE ADVISING
1. Access TaskStream at https://www.taskstream.com/pub/
2. Click the "Advising" DRF link on your TaskStream HomePage- If the Advising DRF is not visible à Click the “Enter Code” button -- type Advising in the textbox labeled, “Enter program code”--> click the “Search” button and follow the directions.
3. Click on the “Advising Resources” link and become familiar with the various advising and admission resources available for you.
4. Click on the Online Advising link for the appropriate term. Ex. if you wish to be advised for the summer term, click on the link "Online Advising - Summer"
5. Click on the Directions link – (if the Directions are not in view).
6. Read/review the “Alternative Certification Early Advising (Online) Checklist”.
7. Complete the “Alternative Certification Early Advising (Online) Checklist”.
8. Click on the “Complete Form” button – ONLY after completing the Early Advising Checklist.
9. Be sure to complete ALL items in the form.
GRADUATION INFORMATION
NOTE: to all degree-seeking candidates graduating in NEXT term – you MUST complete the following:
1. Application for Graduation available at http://www.latech.edu/registrar/graduation.shtml - submit to the Registrar’s Office. Graduation applications for the appropriate term become available at the beginning of the term. Ex. Graduation application for the spring term become available at the beginning of the spring term.
2. Selection of Culminating Program Assessment Form (attached below). Please submit the completed form to the College of Education Office of Graduate Studies. NOTE: This form pertains to candidates who began the MAT program prior to the fall of 2008.
3. Registration for EDCI 599: MAT E-Portfolio (0 credit hours – no fee)
4. Teacher Certification Form (attached below) with instructions (attached below)
*Dr. Basinger usually provides an MAT E-Portfolio workshop during each quarter. Look for announcements from her regarding the workshops.
