Applicable Policy Statement. Any institution seeking or holding accreditation from more than one U.S. Department of Education recognized accrediting body must describe itself in identical terms to each recognized accrediting body with regard to purpose, governance, programs, degrees, diplomas, certificates, personnel, finances, and constituencies, and must keep each institutional accrediting body apprised of any change in its status with one or another accrediting body.
Documentation: The institution should (1) list federally recognized agencies that currently accredit the institution or any of its programs, (2) provide the date of the most recent review by each agency and indicate if negative action was taken by the agency and the reason for such action, (3) provide copies of statements used to describe itself for each of the accrediting bodies, (4) indicate any agency that has terminated accreditation, the date, and the reason for termination, and (5) indicate the date and reason for the institution voluntarily withdrawing accreditation with any of the agencies.
Compliance Status
Louisiana State University and A&M College is in compliance with this principle.
Narrative
Louisiana State University and A&M (LSU) complies with the policy of SACSCOC as it applies to accrediting decisions of other agencies. The Louisiana Board of Regents maintains a list of approved academic program accrediting agencies that they consider mandatory, recommended, or optional for Louisiana institutions of higher education [1] [2]. In addition to SACSCOC, twenty-four accrediting agencies have accredited 80 degree programs at LSU (Table 1) [3]. Six of the accrediting agencies in Table 1 are federally recognized by the U.S. Department of Education (designated with *); the others are not federally recognized but are important for maintaining excellence in LSU degree programs. Table 1 presents a list of these accrediting agencies with links to letters of successful accreditation, the associated department, the accredited degree program, year of prior successful accreditation, and year of the next review by the accrediting agency.

*Accrediting agencies recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
In terms of these external accrediting agencies, there have been no negative actions, i.e.,
Within the programmatic self-studies provided to the accrediting agencies, LSU is described to the agencies in a similar manner. For the accrediting agencies recognized by the U.S. Department of Education, such self-descriptions are found in the self-studies for ACEND [29], AVMA [30], NASAD [31], NASM [32], NAST [33], and NCATE [34].
The role of other accrediting agencies in degree programs is also addressed in Core Requirement 2.7.1, Comprehensive Standards 3.6.4, and Federal Requirement 4.9.
