Artifact 31 - 4 examples of partnership involvement

The Veterinary Assistant Program benefits from very strong partnerships.  The instructor has worked with HOSA during past leadership conferences as an event manager and spelling bee pronouncer.  We receive tremendous support from the veterinary and farm community, as well as support from parents.  During the first year or two of the program we received a $500.00 donation from one local clinic, and continue to receive numerous donations of industry literature.  Our community partners regularly allow students to job shadow or spend time working with them.  We have several alpaca farmers in the area now, and they have been wonderful mentors, allowing students to visit and work with the animals.  The Coach and Livestock department in Colonial Williamsburg has allowed students to work with the rare livestock breeds over the years.  Experiences have included halter breaking Devon cattle, milking cows, deworming sheep, trimming hooves, and examining poultry.  Attached are lists of guest speakers, field trips, and examples of parent involvement in chaperoning trips or serving as guest speakers.
