The space to be renovated and added to the Public Safety Office in Jasper Hall was formerly the barbershop. Once space is added, it will serve the Public Safety Department as an area for conducting investigations such as sensitive Title IX cases without interference and out of earshot from normal everyday front office traffic. It will serve as a PS conference area and monthly meetings with the uniformed supervisors. It can also serve as a possible office space for the anticipated hire of a fire safety coordinator and/or a command post to manage campus emergencies.

Proposed actions to achieve goal: GSS-2016 Re: Public Safety reflects the following favorable percentages in the below mentioned 3 areas:

                        1. Importance (includes important & very important)= More than 80%.

                        2. Satisfaction (includes satisfied & very satisfied)= Mored than 56%.

                        3. Safe, nurturing and enjoyable environment (includes agrees & strongly agrees)=More than 73%.
Expected Results: The GSS for 2016 showed a favorable increase in all 3 categories above mentioned over the previous year. I expect the percentile numbers to continue to increase.
Details/Description: The Public Safety staff members have to continue to express a vested interest in the College. They have to continue to serve the students & employees to the best of their ability. The day-to-day daily interactions with the College community members are probably the most important in order to produce favorable satisfaction.

Goal # 3. Renovation of Old Barbershop Area For Public Safety

Click to Collapse MeasureMeasure: Room usage for multiple purposes
Other level; Indirect - Other

Proposed actions to achieve goal: 1. Conduct student interviews

                        2. Conduct Title IX investigations

                        3. Review security video with complainants and witnesses

                        4. Conduct supervisor monthly meetings while still maintaining availability at the Public Safety Office.
Expected Results: Provide a comfortable, professional, private space for victims, witnesses and others to be interviewed within the Public Safety Department.

Will allow for impromptu or unscheduled meetings or briefings with the supervisors/staff without the need to find an available space elsewhere on campus.
Details/Description: The anticipated usage of the space when conducting student interviews and handling sensitive Title IX cases will be indicator of the need for the addition to the present office. The feedback from students interviewed should be favorable as the room will offer a sense of privacy and confidentiality. When writing out statements in relation to the investigations, students can do in a private.
